Recipient Mare Herd
The recipient mare is one of the most crucial factors in achieving a successful embryo transfer. Our recipient mares are carefully selected based on:

Age: Between 3 and 15 years old.

Size & Weight: Typically weighing 1,100–1,650 lbs and ideally within 300 lbs of the donor mare's weight.

Temperament: Calm, well-mannered, and easy to handle.

Physical Health: Sound body condition, no major health concerns, and good fertility indicators.
Racing City’s Select Herd of Recipient Mares
At Racing City, we take pride in our carefully selected herd of recipient mares. These mares are available for lease to carry embryos from donor mares, ensuring a seamless and successful foaling process. Each recipient mare is leased to the owner at 30 days confirmed in foal and must be returned to us within six months of foaling.
Owners who prefer to use their own recipient mares may do so, subject to certain limitations.
